Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)
Typically a child with ADHD has the ability to focus on an activity
for extended periods of time, they just need the extra help to keep
that focus.
Allow the child with ADHD to explore the art area, preferably
something that requires focus such as cutting & pasting. Ensure that
the child stays on task by allowing them to choose their own activity
and giving positive enforcements. By doing this, the children can
gradually begin to become focused on other tasks.
Visual Impaired
Focus on a child's abilities, rather that on their disabilities, for
this especially applies to children with visual impairment because
most children that have visual impairments are not a 100% visually
impaired.
Supply materials that are colorful and/or have a defined shape so that
the child can distinguish between objects. Also, supply creative
materials that allow the child to use their other senses, such as clay
or play-dough.
Cerebral Palsy
Typically a child with Cerebral Palsy has weak muscles, therefore use
materials that would help the child to easily mold, such as play-dough
or clay. Pre-cut college materials also help a child Cerebral Palsy
express their creative side.
